ABOUT OUR PASTOR

A native to the Whitley County area, Pastor Mike Gray was raised in Rockholds, KY by his loving mother, Barbara, and late father, Jerry Gray, a veteran of our nations armed services.  At the age of 18, the Lord saved him, and at 22 he heeded the Lord's calling to preach the gospel.

In November of 1994, the Lord led Brother Mike to Saxton Baptist.  He has made it his priority to preach and teach the word of God, while also putting a strong emphasis on supporting missionaries and guiding young men who have also been called into the ministry.

What We Believe

There is one living and true God, revealed as three equal persons as: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Matt.3:16,17;  1 John 5:7

Jesus was begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and was God himself manifest in a man’s body.            Matt 1:18-25; 1 Tim 3:16

The 1611 King James Version of the Bible is the final authority of all matters. It is the preserved word of God given to us without error through inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Ps.12:6,7; 2Tim 3:16

Salvation can only be obtained through the blood that Jesus Christ shed on Calvary. A payment for all of mans' sin was made by the Lord on the cross at Calvary. Anyone who is in his blood-washed family is saved and can never lose their salvation. Eph 1:7; Rom 4:7,8; 1John 5:13

The New Testament church is a local body of believers that is self-governing and mission minded. There are two ordinances given to the local church that are the full immersion in water of the believer known as baptism, and the Lord’s supper. Baptism representing the death, burial and resurrection of Christ and The Lord’s Supper a memorial of the shed blood and broken body of Jesus Christ. Eph 1:22,23; Matt 28:19; 1Cor 11:23-29

The Genesis account of creation is historically and literally accurate. Man was created in one day. The process of evolution is rejected, being unscientific and un-biblical. Gen 1&2, Col 1:16, 17

There is a real and literal Satan who is the enemy of God and man. He was created perfect, but, because of envy, was cast down. He is the author of evil, and will continue to deceive and make war with mankind until his day of judgment. 2Cor. 2:11; Isa 14:12-17; Ez 28:13-17; Rev 20:10

There will be a pre-tribulation, pre-millennial second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ when he will call up his body of believers to meet him in the clouds. After this will be a time of “great tribulation” on this Earth when Satan through the Antichrist will rule, making war with Israel and any who refuse to worship him. That the end of the tribulation will be marked by Jesus Christ returning to Earth to rule for 1000 years from the throne of David. 1Thess 4:16; 2Thess 2:3,4; Rev 14:13-18, 20:1-6

For the born again believers there will be an actual, everlasting, indescribable heaven known in the scriptures as "New Jerusalem". For Satan and those who reject Jesus Christ‘s payment for their sins, a never-ending, literal Hell filled with fire. John 14:2,3; Rev 20:11-15
